In our class we did an Information Report on an animal we like. I chose a python. I hope you get some good facts from my information report.

Here is an animal report that I did.

Did you know python's scientific name is a pythonidae? Pythons are the one of the biggest snakes in the world. They are carnivores because they eat rabbits, antelopes or monkeys. Pythons are found as reptiles because pythons are in the snake species. You can usually know the gender of a python because the females are larger.

The pythons are found in Asia or Africa. A python’s habitat can be in savannahs because pythons like to stay in hot places. They also live in rainforests because there are lots of creatures there that pythons can hunt. A slew (lots) of pythons are found near rivers or ponds because if a predator comes pythons can swim away.

Pythons are cold blooded snakes and have no venom. Their colourful shell helps them to blend into trees. Pythons can weigh up to 137kg. Their sharp teeth help them to kill their food. Python have hard and slippery shells because they need to escape and guard themselves from predators. Normal pythons usually grow over 30 feet long because they are a big snake species.

Pythons are a reptile that swallows their food. They squeeze their animal until it’s dead. Then they wrap around it to protect it from other creatures. The amazing thing is that they only eat 4-5 times a year. Pythons prey on rodents, antelopes, monkeys, caimans, deers and rabbits.

Pythons lay up to 100 eggs and minimum is 20. If pythons don't breed they lay up to 6 eggs. Python lay eggs between March and November. If pythons breed, then 3-4 months later they lay an egg. Baby pythons leave their mother when they are 65 to 85 days old. The mum takes care of baby.

Pythons are also predators but some other predators can prey on them. Usually big cat families, eagles, hawks or bears prey on them. Pythons don’t attack humans unless they are stressed or provoked. Humans also kill pythons to use their skin.

I don’t think killing pythons for money is a good idea because pythons get stressed when a human takes their family members so they might attack you. The other reason for not killing pythons is if a python lays an egg and you kill the mum there will be no one to look after the baby.
