Camp letter

Here is a letter that I wrote to one of the parent helpers on our Spencer Park camp. Inside my letter there's a recount, that I wrote about my best activity which for me was forest survivor. Enjoy my writing.

Kia ora Warren,
Thank you Warren for helping us on camp at Spencer Park.. You encouraged us and even helped us do all the activities. I honestly appreciate it, it was the best camp I have ever been on! Without you it couldn't have been that much fun. We loved all that excellent food that you cooked. We also enjoyed playing games with you.

Here is a recount I wrote about my favourite moment.

The wind was blowing towards the trees in Spencer Park forest. Pete the person that helps and teaches us do some activities did a short play about being lost in the forest. We talked about what we should do when we go into the forest and when you're in the forest. We found about twenty things that we could do when you are going into the forest or when you have arrived there. He then showed us how to make the huts. He said he'll give us fifteen minutes to do the hut building. After he said that everyone ran off to find some trees and build them. Zeke found a lot of big sticks and I found lots of small sticks. Even though I found lots of small sticks I helped Zeke pick up the big sticks. Our group was almost finished when the fifteen minutes was up. Pete then showed us how to block the wind from coming in the hut. He gave us another ten minutes to block the wind from coming in. While we were doing that we found a little piece of wood which was good for a chair “What should we do with it?” I said. Phoebe said “Put it in” but Nevaeh didn’t like that idea. The whistle went as we were trying to have a look inside “Oh well” we said. Then we ran over to Pete. Next he told us how the huhu grubs start and grow into a beetle and while he was saying this information the helpers were finding some huhu grubs for us to eat. After he told us all the information the two helpers came but Pete said “This year there's not many huhu grubs”. He said “If you want to eat the grubs line up”. I preferred to eat it so I lined up. I counted about ten huhu grubs in the bucket when I went there. Then the people that wanted to eat the huhu grubs all ate them. Everyone told Mr Hawes to eat the huhu grubs, so he ate one. He said his one was very chewy. Then we looked at some huts. Pete asked every group what were the best two things about the hut building. Every group said teamwork and our group said teamwork as well. Unfortunately after that was the end of forest survivor.

Warren, I especially appreciate how you took time off from work and came to our camp, without this it wouldn’t have been possible. Once again thank you for being a parent helper on our camp. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. I hope you put your hand up for the next camp we go on. What was your favourite thing about coming on camp?

Yours sincerely
Kenny.
