Build your wild self

This term we used a website called Build your Wild Self - www.buildyourwildself.com

If you go in it you will see a sign called start on the right side. You click that, then it will come up with a frame and a picture with a boy and girl you click your gender. After you do that look next to the frame then there will be a list of things and one by one fill them all in. Then once you've done all of the things you click on the top right corner where it says your name, then fill in your name.
The next step is to click the I'm done button at the bottom then it will come up with your picture, and on the right side it will say whats wild about it.

My animal was a the Cob-pol-mon-illa-iger-ay.peacock.

The Cob came from my Red Spitting Cobras hood.
My Red Spitting Cobra Hood is spread open because it makes it self bigger and threatening so it can scare its bullies away.

The Pol comes from the Polar bears ears.
The polar bear ears are very good when it is cold, because the polar bears ears are very fury even on the inside so that makes it warmer. When it is diving, it closes its ear to keep cold water out.

The Mon comes from the Chilean flamingo beak.
The Chilean flamingo beak is used like a filter to pull microorganisms out of water. scoop, drain, and dinner is served.

If you want to build your wild self here is the website http://www.buildyourwildself.com/

Subtraction

This week Jackson's Studio (Rm 18) has been solving a maths question with subtraction. This is the question 57-29=

This is how I solved this question.

Equal Adjustments
57 -29=?
+1  +1
58-30=28

Place Value
57-29=?
57-20=37
37-9=28

Hope you learnt something from this.
Thanks ^_^

Wearable Arts

Wearable arts, watching the terrific performances.

Wearable Arts...being on stage!

I heard the songs echo in the air as Rm 1 stepped on the powdery black catwalk.

I heard the giant crowd clap and cheer after Rm 2 came out of the dark dusty stage.

I saw the flash light gleam across the hall so that we could see the people's fantastic performance.

I felt annoyed because everyone was screaming and I had a bad headache.

I felt very excited to see Rm 18 and 21’s performance and what it looked like with the Rad Rhythm and the spray artists wearing their suits.

I wondered if Rm 18 and 21 will do good on their performance after all that practices they did.

I wondered what changed in the Rad Rhythm performance because when I was absent the Rad Rhythm practiced their performance.

Thanks ^_^

How to care of my pet dragon

Here is the instructions I wrote down.

Feeding your dragon:
  1. Get a kg of dog food then put it in a big bowl.
  2. Get an electric mixer and mix the dog food for about 1 minute.
  3. Put the bowl in front of my dragon.
  4. Say “Wait” and if it doesn’t wait put the bowl away for 1 minute.
  5. Keep doing it until he waits and when he does give the food to the dragon.

Playing with your dragon:
  1. Go to the lounge and there will be a yellow box with toys in it. Pick a big basketball out of it and take it outside.
  2. Take the dragon to the park on a leash and make sure you have the big basketball.
  3. Go to the dragon and say “We’re going to play fetch”.
  4. After the dragon comes throw the basketball, then say “fetch” and then the dragon will chase it.
  5. Repeat that for at least twenty times.

Taking your dragon to the supermarket:
  1. Get a leash so the dragon doesn’t fly away.
  2. Feed him a lot of food before you go because it might eat something in the supermarket but if it’s not hungry it won't eat any food in the supermarket.
  3. Don’t feed him any hot or spicy food because he might blow out fire in the supermarket.
  4. Strap him in the backseat and don’t open the car windows because the dragon might fly away.
  5. Travel to the supermarket.
  6. Get your leash then hook it on the dragon and go outside.
  7. Go into the supermarket and hold the dragon’s leash at the same time.
  8. Now buy all the food that you need to buy.
  9. Go to the biscuit aisle and buy a big brown bag of caramel popcorn.
  10. Move to the counter and scan your meals.
  11. Travel to the carpark and find your car.
  12. Once you find your car put your plastic bags filled with food in the boot.
  13. Now tuck the dragon in the back seat and travel back to your house.
  14. Then give the dragon 5 pieces of popcorn if he behaves.

Training your dragon to run:
  1. Go to the lounge then you will see a shelf, on the top of the shelf there will be a long piece of string.
  2. Go to the kitchen and get 50 grams of cow meat.
  3. Then hang the cow meat on the string.
  4. Next walk with the string and the dragon will chase it because it’s its favourite food.
  5. After that keep going a little faster every time until it can run.
  6. Do that about 10 times a day then go back inside.

Grooming your dragon:
  1. Go outside and there will be shed.
  2. Find a big yellow tub.
  3. Grab the tub then drag it to the grass area.
  4. Go to the bathroom then bring out a half bottle of cat shampoo and another half bottle of dog shampoo.
  5. Mix the dog and cat shampoo together and then bring the mixture outside.
  6. Get a scrubber and a big green seat.
  7. Bring the hose to the yellow tub and pour water in it.
  8. Get 8 popcorn pieces from the kitchen.
  9. Go back outside holding the popcorn.
  10. Place the dragon in the tub then give him 1 piece popcorn if he stays in the tub.
  11. After 1 minute has passed give him another piece of popcorn
  12. Get the dragon on the big green seat and pour the bottle of the dog and cat shampoo mixture over him.
  13. Scrub his tummy, head, wings and legs with the scrubber.
  14. Give him 4 pieces of popcorns.
  15. Then rinse the dragon for 2 minutes and then give him the last 2 pieces of popcorn.
  16. Get a towel and scrub the dragon.
  17. Do this at least 3 times a week so the dragon is nice and clean.
  18. After you have showered my dragon get some scissors and cut about half a cm off each of his toes and fingernails.

Putting your dragon to bed:
  1. Go inside the house and go to the toilet, you will see some toothbrushes next to the sink.
  2. Pick the big blue one out and place it on the drawer next to the sink.
  3. Go and get the dragon and bring him to the toilet.
  4. Place about 500 gm of toothpaste on the toothbrush.
  5. Put the toothbrush in the dragon’s mouth.
  6. Brush my dragon's teeth but make sure that you brush up, down, left and right. Do that for about 1 minute.
  7. Now make the dragon spit out the toothpaste.
  8. Go to the lounge and grab a Roald Dahl book.
  9. Bring it to my room and read one story to him. Then he will quietly go to sleep.
  10. Lie him on the blanket next to you and then you sleep.

Exercising your dragon:
  1. Get a leash and hook it onto the dragon
  2. Tuck him into the back seat of your car and drive to a park.
  3. Let him free go on the playground for 10 minutes but keep the leash on him.
  4. Run around the park once and then he will be exercised.
  5. Now tuck him into the back seat again and drive home.

Show Me

In Jackson's Studio (Rm18) we used the iPad learning app Show Me. Show Me is where you turn your iPad into an interactive whiteboard so you can record tutorials. We used Show Me to record a strategy for solving a subtraction problem. The strategy that Jonty and I chose was place value and eaqual adjustments.

I hope you learn something from our video.

Animal report

In our class we did an Information Report on an animal we like. I chose a python. I hope you get some good facts from my information report.

Here is an animal report that I did.

Did you know python's scientific name is a pythonidae? Pythons are the one of the biggest snakes in the world. They are carnivores because they eat rabbits, antelopes or monkeys. Pythons are found as reptiles because pythons are in the snake species. You can usually know the gender of a python because the females are larger.

The pythons are found in Asia or Africa. A python’s habitat can be in savannahs because pythons like to stay in hot places. They also live in rainforests because there are lots of creatures there that pythons can hunt. A slew (lots) of pythons are found near rivers or ponds because if a predator comes pythons can swim away.

Pythons are cold blooded snakes and have no venom. Their colourful shell helps them to blend into trees. Pythons can weigh up to 137kg. Their sharp teeth help them to kill their food. Python have hard and slippery shells because they need to escape and guard themselves from predators. Normal pythons usually grow over 30 feet long because they are a big snake species.

Pythons are a reptile that swallows their food. They squeeze their animal until it’s dead. Then they wrap around it to protect it from other creatures. The amazing thing is that they only eat 4-5 times a year. Pythons prey on rodents, antelopes, monkeys, caimans, deers and rabbits.

Pythons lay up to 100 eggs and minimum is 20. If pythons don't breed they lay up to 6 eggs. Python lay eggs between March and November. If pythons breed, then 3-4 months later they lay an egg. Baby pythons leave their mother when they are 65 to 85 days old. The mum takes care of baby.

Pythons are also predators but some other predators can prey on them. Usually big cat families, eagles, hawks or bears prey on them. Pythons don’t attack humans unless they are stressed or provoked. Humans also kill pythons to use their skin.

I don’t think killing pythons for money is a good idea because pythons get stressed when a human takes their family members so they might attack you. The other reason for not killing pythons is if a python lays an egg and you kill the mum there will be no one to look after the baby.

I hope you learnt some thing about pythons.
