Chapter Chat: Wonder

Last week my friends Jonty and Gabe and I worked on a Chapter Chat activity. The activity we chose to do was building Manhattan city with Lego.  It took about 4 days to complete our lego Manhattan city.

We took the pictures from the front and top, and put it on a Google Drawing with the real picture of Manhattan city at the top.

Here is our Lego Manhattan city that we made.

I hope you liked our Chapter Chat activity.
Have you made anything like this with Lego?

Animal report

Last term we wrote an animal report. First we all chose an animal to do it on, and I chose a Siberian tiger. Then we had to find facts about the animal. The facts we needed to find out about the animal was, classification, physical features, habitat, feeding behaviour, reproduction, social behaviour and predators. With the notes we had we made it into paragraphs. Here is my finished work that I finished on Google Slides.

I hope you learnt something from my slide. ^_^

Subtraction strategies

This year Jackson's Studio Rm 18 has been doing some problem solving. We learnt how to solve subtraction, addition, mutiplication, and division question's easily. Today I am going to teach you two subtraction strategies.

This is my first stratergy, and this one is called, equal adjustments. The reason I like this strategy is because it is short, and easy to understand.

       264-196=68
+4   +4
      268-200=68

This is the second stratergy that I am going to show you. This one is called Place Value. I like this stratergy, because it is simple to remember.

264-196=
264-100=164
164-90=74
74-8=68

I hope you learnt something, have a great day.^_^

Holes Chapter Chat.

This term our class participated again in Chapter Chat, a twitter-book chat. This term we read ‘Holes’ by Louis Sachar. The book was about a boy called, Stanley Yelnats. He never has good luck, and he is making a plan to escape Camp Green Lake. Talking about Camp Green Lake it is the most vast, disgusting place you could ever land in, it only has 2 trees, hard dry dirt and holes filled with dangerous creatures.

Each fortnight we completed various activities and answered questions based on what we had read. We then shared our activities and answers on Twitter with Room 20.

Here are two activities that I have completed on the book Holes.

My first activity is a map of where they went in the book, then if you follow the line it will show the order of where they went. So they first went to is the wreck/rec room then he headed to tent D which is where he had to sleep. The next place he went was to the lake where they dig holes, and then he went to the big thumb.

The second activity is one where you needed to make your own nickname for if you went to Camp Green Lake. For example my name would be Trouble, because I'm a trouble maker.

I hope you enjoyed my activities. Which one was your favourite?

Zentangle art

This term we have been busy finishing our calendar art. Each year at our school we do a piece of art that can go on calendars, diaries or cards. Our parents can then buy these for gifts, if they choose.
This year our class did our calendar art around the theme Zentangle.

First we looked at different Zentangle patterns and then we practised drawing these patterns in our art book, before doing our good copy.

Here is my finished calendar art for 2017.

I hope you enjoyed it have you done anything like this before?

Leave me a comment to let me know what you think of my art.

Robot artwork

Over the last term and a bit we have been doing different pieces of robot art for our school’s Art Exhibition later in the term. Here is my newspaper robot art. This is how I made it. I first got out a piece of newspaper and then cut out some pieces of newspaper. I got out a coloured piece of paper and then gently put the newspaper on it. I cut out more pieces then created an art piece. The things I used were a vivid, newspaper, coloured paper, a glue stick, and a pair of scissors. It took me a couple of art sessions to make my newspaper robot.

I hope you enjoy my robot artwork. Have you ever done any robot art?

PowToon Book Report

We have been learning how to create a book report with PowToon. I have made my animated book report on Ms Bixby's Last Day. Ms Bixby's Last Day was our serial story in Term 2 that we read as part of Chapter Chat. The book was written by John David Anderson.

I hope you enjoy my PowToon book report.
Have you read Ms Bixby’s Last Day?
